"This shop was recommended to me by my buddy Robert. He had his Honda and Infinity repaired at the shop and really thought highly of them.…" read more »
My poor Audi was assaulted on the street recently and suffered major front end damage. Rob et al at consumer were super nice and friendly, and the car got fixed very quickly and looks great and runs fine. So really, you can't ask for a better car-fixing experience. I mean of course you could ask for a better one but realistically you're not going to get it. For instance, I could've gotten a free german chocolate cake. But they didn't do that. Come to think of it, maybe I'll give *them* a german chocolate cake. They certainly work hard and I think a cake would be a nice little treat for them.

After stupidly backing my brand new car into a sign post (d'oh!) I took it to Rob Song's auto body shop and had a completely hassle-free experience. The car looks brand new (again!) and they even waxed my tires! Highly recommended! Thanks, Rob!!

My wife and I were hit on the side at a 3 way stop by a reckless teenager apparently distracted with other things more important than paying attention to the road, especially right in front of you. The owner, Rob Song, was very helpful and informative in explaining our options and typical procedures insurance companies undergo after an accident. I needed a place to store my car since I don't live in SF and Rob assured me he wouldn't charge any storage fees since I wasn't at-fault. He took care of us by calling up a rental car agency and referring us to a lawyer. I still had personal belongings to pick up and he stayed open 2 hours past closing to accommodate me. It was only supposed to take 30 min to an hour but we were stuck in heavy traffic. When I arrived, I needed to remove my license plate frame and a base decal. He did the work for me without asking him to. Little details like these make a difference and build a strong customer relationship. In the meantime, I was looking for used cars on craigslist while waiting for the other driver's insurance company to process the claim. There was a Civic that was overpriced considering the roof of the car was rusted. I called Rob up and gave him the link to get an estimate. He not only gave me an estimate but advised me that he had the same exact car (year, model, and color) and he was willing to sell it to me at a reasonable price (below KBB, within range of NADA, and above Edmund's TMV). He went above and beyond and payed for a mechanic to perform a vehicle inspection. There were only minor things discovered which he offered to fix out of pocket. I didn't get any body work done since my car was considered a total loss but I would definitely bring my car back here given the level of customer service. You can shop around for the best prices but quality and customer service don't come cheap.

These guys did $800 extra of work - for free - on our battered Subaru that had been run into on the street here in SF after being attacked by wave after wave of drunken city college kids in Santa Barbara. And they kicked in for a rental car, although that probably had something to do with the fact that we were also getting a new clutch from SF Auto Works, the repair shop up the street (which is also a fine establishment). If 800 smackers of free stuff doesn't get you five stars, I don't know what does - if they'd thrown in some hubcaps I would've had to give them six!
Also, something to remember: if you're getting a rear bumper replaced - don't forget to peel the parking sticker off of it first. It comes off in pieces but even that will help when you go to get a new one from the city.

I can't say enough good things about the guys at Consumer Auto Body.
I'll spare you the drama of my particular situation, but here's the gist: My baby Del Sol was smashed in by a hit & run driver a few weeks back -- damaged to the tune of nearly deeming the car 'totaled'.
I brought it to Rob at CAB, and he was supremely helpful every step of the way: presented me with various options for fixing it (depending on my budget), gave me advice for dealing with the police and insurance, kept me up to date on the car's status, was supremely flexible in putting up with the ever-changing insurance situation, and -- this is most important -- did a *fantastic* job with my car.
When I went to pick it up last week, I was reminded again why I love my car so much. It looked *that* good -- you literally wouldn't be able to tell by looking at it that someone had smashed its side in. It drives just beautifully, exactly as before.
Suffice it to say that, while I most certainly hope I'll never be in another car accident, if it ever happens again I won't think twice about bringing my car right back to this place. Five stars, all the way.

I used these guys to fix a dent on my new car. They did a great job....dealt with all the Insurance paperwork smoothly + they were accommodating re: pickup times and my work schedule.
This really is the hands-down the best auto body shop in the bay area.
I simply showed up at Rob's shop based on the stellar reviews here (and because the first one I read was a woman who had done the same numbskull thing as me--driven my brand new car into a pole and needed immediate help!)
And I actually came all the way from Alameda because Yelp people loved this shop so much.
They were right.
This is without a doubt the most honest , forthright and fair auto business I've ever found in 25 years of living in the Bay Area. Rob fixed my damage promptly, gave me a very reasonable estimate, and was incredibly kind and courteous throughout the process. The work was
impeccably done and he even included a detailing, wash and wax job at the end.
If only all businesses were run with the consummate good energy of this spot, life in the bay area would be stress-free. Until that happens, at least know there is an absolutely perfect spot to bring your car the next time you have a fender-bender.
I honestly can't recommend highly enough that you bring your auto body business here It was such a good experience I didn't even mind blowing six months of sushi money to get the car fixed because it's the kind of business you just feel good supporting.
That really says something.

Gotta love these guys! Came in on a Sunday to get an estimate, was able to drop my truck off the next day, and ended up paying $150 less than their estimate (how often does _that_ happen?) They also fixed a few extra things for free.
Initially, I went there to fix a dent and scratches caused by a small accident but Rob was very honest and recommended not fixing the scratches after telling him my situation. Instead, I asked them to fix a small bent that the previous owner made and that had been bothering me. Rob gave me a very good discount after learning the work would not be covered by my insurance. They did a great job. I cannot tell where the bent was. They cleaned my tires too and gave me a surprise gift. I was impressed. I will go back when I need a body repair.
I went to Consumer Auto Body rather than the "preferred" shops recommended by the insurance company solely on the strength of the reviews I read here, and I was not disappointed.
Rob's an intelligent competent guy and working out the details between the shop and the insurance company was not a problem at all. I picked up my BMW today and the job looks impeccable. A very pleasant experience all round. Highly recommended!
(And as an added bonus, you can go get a cup of coffee at Ritual just down the street...)
My car is relatively new (3 years old) and both my front and rear bumpers had paint chips and one major area where the paint had completely been chipped off and cracked.
Rob was a nice guy. He looked at it right away and gave me a quote. It seemed a bit high to me, but he said he would throw in auto detailing for the car (in and out) and I felt that would be fair. He also looked at the dents in my car (2 dime sized ones) and was honest and told me that it would be too expensive to fix that through him and he suggested someone else who might do it for cheaper.
My car was handed back to me in time. The front and rear bumpers had been painted well - no complaints there. The only reason I was disappointed was that he had said he would auto detail my car, but other than the exterior & tires being washed and waxed, nothing else had been done. The interior had not even been cleaned or vaccummed. And when i asked him if he had detailed my car, he said yes, both in and out. I have had my car detailed before and hence I knew that was not the case here. I didnt wish to argue, so I just left. But thats really my disappointment here - not sure if he had asked someone else to do it and they didnt do it, or if he had changed his mind about doing it.
He is good at what he does though and for any auto paint repair, I definitely highly recommend him.
I'd like to echo what everybody else has said. I took my car in in April, having sat on it for a year knowing that the dent/tear in my back bumper was going to cost me an arm and a leg to fix. Rob was very nice -- to my surprise he told me what he would charge if I went through my insurance (I didn't want to) and we then agreed upon a rate that actually seemed fair. His shop did a great job and did the repair in a really short time, bringing it in a day under estimate. My car looks flawless. Rob is a nice guy with a great attitude -- I even felt the impulse to sweep his dusty office and give him a comfier room to sit in! I'd go back if I had another problem. Glad his shop is getting good reviews, they deserve it.
Comsumer Auto Body does nice work. They were accurate on the estimate and got the car back in a timely fashion. They even gave it a wash. Good Job.
